Tun Dr
Mahathir was born on 10th of June 1925 in the late afternoon in Alor Setar,
Kedah. He was the youngest among 9 children, 6 boys and 3 girls. His brothers
are Murad, Mustaffa, Mahadi, Mashahor and Omar while his sisters are Johora,
Rafeah and Habsah.
Tun Dr
Mahathir was a student at King Edward VII College in Singapore and he's taking
medicine course there. After that he became a government medical officer for a
while before left the job in 1957 in order to build his own practice in Alor
Setar. He was the town's first Malay and successful doctor.
Tun Dr
Mahathir's family started when he met Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Binti Mohd Ali, a
fellow medical student. They get married in 1956 and had their first child,
Marina, in 1957, before conceiving three others and adopting three more in the
28 years following.
